Christmas plum pudding is “Love made visible”

This steamed pudding bursting with raisins, dates, currants, candied peel & orange rind, tempts with its cinnamon aroma. It Serves 6 adults. A must try for all the bakers this Christmastide

Christmas plum pudding recipe


¼ cup salted butter
1/3 cup brown sugar
½ cup milk
15 dates – pitted and chopped
¼ cup dried currants
1 tbsp orange rind
½cup raisins (kishmish)
¼ cup candied mixed fruit peel – chopped
1 tsp baking soda (mitha soda)
1 cup flour (maida)
Dry Fruits(walnuts, cashew, almonds, hazel nut, pistachio etc)
2 tsp ground cinnamon (dalchini)
A pinch salt


1. In a wide bowl mix margarine or butter, sugar, fresh bolied milk, raisins, dates (deseeded), currants, mixed fruit peel and rind of orange. Boil them on low heat.
2. Remove from heat, add baking soda and stir it properly so that there should not be any lumps.
3. Sift flour, fine cinnamon powder and table salt and add in the above mixture.
4.Further add dry fruits (walnuts, cashew, almonds, hazel nut, pistachio etc) and mix gently until blended.
5. Pour the total mixture into greased pudding mould.
6. Cover with a double layer of greased aluminium foil and steam for 2 hours in a steamer or pressure cooker.
7.You can even bake it in an oven at 160© for 40 minutes.
8. Once the plum cake or pudding is ready you can even do an icing over it to make it more tempting.
